In WGN America’s supernatural drama SALEM, now in its first season Sundays at 10 PM and renewed for a second, real witches in the famed seventeenth-century town are misdirecting blame for their doings on non-magical townsfolk. Seth Gabel plays famed historical figure Cotton Mather, publicly a staunch Puritan who is privately caught up in all manner of illicit doings. Gabel (pronounced GABE-el) is known to genre fans for playing Special Agent Lincoln Lee on FRINGE. Shane West is sneezing, but he explains he hasn’t picked up the cold that’s affected a lot of people in the vicinity. “Oh, no. I have a beard that’s been driving me crazy. I haven’t had a beard like this ever, I think, in my life. And it’s fine, it’s great for the role, but I’m consistently all of a sudden sneezing and my nose is scratchy always.
