Actor Tim Pigott-Smith, the subject of this interview, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 70 on April 7, 2017, a little under three months after this interview was conducted. He was at the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour in Pasadena, California, to talk about the film version of KING CHARLES III. KING CHARLES III began life as a stage play. Although THE INVISIBLE WOMAN is the title of the new feature film directed by Ralph Fiennes and scripted by Abi Morgan from Claire Tomalin’s book, that’s now how we see its female protagonist Nelly Ternan, played by Felicity Jones. “I am the visible woman,” declares Jones with a laugh. Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films held the Los Angeles Premiere of THE TEMPEST at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on December 6th. Across the street at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater was the premiere of Paramount’s THE FIGHTER, so needless to say Hollywood was very busy and the street was closed from Highland to Orange for this special night. This was not the first time that two premieres were held almost at the same time, but it was timed so that after I finished shooting THE TEMPEST, I was able to go over and cover THE FIGHTER.
