CW’s hit show THE VAMPIRE DIARIES was honored at PaleyFest 2012 (The William S. Paley Television Festival) on March 10. The festival, which is held at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills, had a line of fans of the show all the way down the street. Whether it’s THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, TRUE BLOOD or previous television shows that were about vampires, such as FOREVER KNIGHT, MOONLIGHT and DARK SHADOWS the love for the Vampire Lore is never-ending. Seen walking into the press tent before joining the fans on this special night were the stars, which included: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, […]Read On »

TV Review: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES – Season 3 – “All My Children”

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder Writer: Evan Bleiweiss, Based on the book by L.J. Smith Director: Pascal Verschooris  Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: February 16, 2012 Well, that was the shortest plot thread in the history of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES plot threads, now wasn’t it kids? By plot thread I am of course referencing the plot where Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and all of his siblings are tied together by their resurrected witch of a mother Esther (Alice Evans), so she can make them mortal and then kill them off. Sad that it only lasted two […]Read On »

TV Review: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES – Season 3 – “Dangerous Liaisons”

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder Writer: Caroline Dries, Based on the book by L.J. Smith Director: Chris Grismer  Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: February 9, 2012 THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is making the storyline involving Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and his original vampire family at least interesting to watch. I was concerned initially at the start of the season when they brought Klaus back. Bringing back a villain from a previous season seemed weak sauce compared to how they had leveled up between prior seasons of the show. However, I have been pleasantly surprised with all of […]Read On »

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder Writer: Turi Meyer, Based on the book by L.J. Smith Director: Jeffrey G. Hunt  Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: February 2, 2012 So the new episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is all about family. “Bringing Out the Dead” has some truly touching moments, and then some nice shockers and twists as usual. What exactly does family mean to our Mystic Falls crew? The ties that bind are tested and tightened in some cases as everyone gets put through the paces and more plots against Klaus (Joseph Morgan) move forward. The […]Read On »

Exclusive: TRUE BLOOD star Lara Pulver would like Claudine the fairy to come back to the HBO series

Lara Pulver in TRUE BLOOD - Season 4 | ©2011 HBO/John P. Johnson

Lara Pulver is no stranger to genre television viewers. Her roles on BBC America’s ROBIN HOOD, MI-5, and HBO’s TRUE BLOOD have made her a familiar face. Of course fans of TRUE BLOOD that have read the original Charlaine Harris books were more than a little dismayed that Pulver’s character Claudine Crane the fairy was brutally killed by Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) last season. However, while she was promoting a new season of PBS’ SHERLOCK she said she might be able to come back to TRUE BLOOD in the new year. “It wouldn’t surprise me if she appears as some […]Read On »

TV Review: BEING HUMAN – Season 2 – “All Out of Blood”

Sam Huntington in BEING HUMAN - Season 2 - "All Out of Blood" | ©2012 Syfy/Philippe Bosse

Stars: Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath, Sam Huntington, Kristen Hagen, Natalie Brown, Susanna Fournier Writer: Chris Dingess, adapted for U.S. television by Jeremy Carver & Anna Fricke, created for U.K. television by Toby Whithouse Director: Paolo Barzman Network: Syfy, Mondays @ 9 PM Airdate: January 30, 2012 The BEING HUMAN episode “All Out of Blood” deals, per its title, with vampire Aidan (Sam Witwer) encountering some unplanned dietary problems, but the real strength here are some surprising and intriguing additions to the ghost mythology. On the downside, it’s becoming a matter of some suspense just how much more whining and sulking […]Read On »

TV Review: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES – Season 3 – “The Ties That Bind”

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder Writer: Brian Young, Based on the book by L.J. Smith Director: John Dahl Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: January 19, 2012 I appreciate that THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is constantly evolving their characters and the characters relationships to each other. I really do. I don’t like tuning into a show every week to find the same old stagnant relationships that we’ve seen for a couple of seasons continue to limp towards some kind of inevitable confrontation or goal. The writers on this show consistently try to up the ante and to […]Read On »

TV Review: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES – Season 3 – “Our Town”

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder Writer: Rebecca Sonnenshine, Based on the book by L.J. Smith Director: Wendy Stanzler Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: January 12, 2012 THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is still one of my favorite guilty pleasures on television. The series is such a soap opera with supernatural elements that you can’t tear yourself away for fear of missing something important (or something tiny that will turn out to be important). “Our Town” continues the power play between Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Stefan (Paul Wesley); each one seeing how they can out maneuver and out […]Read On »

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder Writer: Michael Narducci, Based on the book by L.J. Smith Director: John Behring    Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: January 5, 2012 Well, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is back from hiatus finally, and once again the clever writers of the series have found ways to change relationships, and flip a lot of things on their ears with “The New Deal” Before the break the big plan to kill Klaus (Joseph Morgan) was kiboshed by Stefan (Paul Wesley) who was trying to save Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) and really pretty […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: AMERICAN HORROR STORY actress Frances Conroy plays housekeeper

Frances Conroy in AMERICAN HORROR STORY - Season 1 | ©2011 FX

In AMERICAN HORROR STORY, which has its first-season finale (it’s been renewed for a second) tonight on FX at 10 PM, some ghosts appear as rotting phantoms and others appear alive and tangible. One ghost, however, is so complex that she’s actually played by two actresses. Frances Conroy is the primary incarnation of perennial housekeeper Moira O’Hara, starchy and generally reserved, but her seductive younger self is played by Alexandra Breckinridge. Which version of Moira we see depends largely on who is looking at her – we realize that protagonist Ben Harmon, played by Dylan McDermott, is starting to wise […]Read On »
