Here’s something you don’t see every year. The 89th Academy Awards presentation on ABC network on February 26, 2017, will go down in history. Yes, the Best Picture Oscar for MOONLIGHT, the low-budget drama about a young gay black man at three stages of his life, is unique in many ways. There have been many movies that have lost out on nabbing that Best Picture Oscar, but 1981’s REDS was probably the most glaring snub. Even though it was nominated for 12 awards and writer-director-producer and actor Warren Beatty won Best Director, the film ultimately lost out to CHARIOTS OF FIRE. Breaking News: REDS director-actor Warren Beatty wants to make more movies

While speaking at the 2011 TCM Classic Film Festival screening of his 1981 epic film REDS with moderator Alec Baldwin, writer-director-producer-actor Warren Beatty spoke about wanting to make more movies, but admitted he was a sluggish decision maker. “There’s a point where this little thing called life [happens],” says Beatty. “I have an 11-year-old, a 14-year-old, a 16-year-old and now a just turned 19-year-old.
